WHAT IS ROBOSUB?

RoboSub is an international competition hosted by RoboNation for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Launched in 1997, the competition challenges teams to design, build, and operate autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) capable of performing complex tasks in aquatic environments. These tasks simulate challenges faced in the maritime industry, such as ocean exploration, underwater mapping, and object detection.

The competition takes place annually in the United States, bringing together teams from around the world. Missions include autonomous navigation, image recognition, object manipulation and launching torpedoes through specific hoops. In addition to the practical tests, there are additional categories that evaluate performance in areas such as technical documentation, presentation and project strategy.

RoboSub offers participants a unique opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to practical projects, stimulating creativity, teamwork and the development of innovative solutions to real challenges.
